2011

  • KDN donated books and teaching materials worth more than Birr 22,000.00 to Doyogena High School.

2010

  • KDN donated a total of 804 new books to Durame and Shinshicho High Schools. The books were worth Birr 43,000.00.

2009

  • April 20, 2009: KDN was granted a permanent public charity status 509(a)(2) under IRS section 501)(c)(3) code.
  • KDN donated a total of 554 books to Angacha High School Library. The total cost of the donation was Birr 17,000 and included books on english, math, chemistry, biology, physics, history geography, civic and ethical education, and maps.

2008

  • KDN provided financial aid to 8 outstanding and needy students.

2007

  • KDN Bulletin #2 was published. The Bulletin higlighted the the major accomplishments of KDN during 2004-07 and listed the KDN Action Plan for 2008 and beyond.
  • KDN provided financial aid to 26 outstanding and needy students.
2006
  • August 2, 2006 - KDN donated books worth of Birr 13,000 to Amacho Wato High School Library
  • August 3, 2006 - KDN donated books worth of Birr 4,000 to Doyogena High School
  • August 8, 2006 - A joint KDN-Kambata Temro Malmat Mahber (KTMM) Executive Committee meeting discussed possibilities of collaboration in the design and implementation of development projects. In the meeting, KDN was represented by its current President.
  • September 4, 2006 - Prof. Lemma W. Senbet (a KDN founding member and donor) was honored by KDN. He received a congratulatory plaque from KDN Executive Committee on his being named a Fellow by Financial Management Association International.
  • KDN provided financial aid to 19 outstanding and needy students.

2005

  • January 2005 - KDN donated 800 new books to Amacho Wato High School Library Project.
  • July 2005 - KDN offered third round scholarship. A total of 21 new students attending seven local high schools will benefit from the scholarship award during 2005-06 academic year.

2004

  • KDN offered second round of scholarship. At total of 18 students benefitted from the scholarship during 2003-04 academic year.

2003

  • January 2003 - KDN launched DKSMF Scholarship.
  • May 2003 - The first Group DKSMF Scholarship Recipients were selected
  • June 2003 - KDN Bulletin No.1 was printed.
  • July 19 - The Second KDN General Meeeting was held in Washington, DC.

2002

  • January 13, 2002 - A special KDN Board Meeting conducted by teleconference established the Distinguished Kambata Scholars memorial Fund (DKSMF) and elected a Scholarship Advisory Committee.
  • February 2002 - KDN established a local Scholarship Advisory Committee in Ethiopia.
  • March 2002 - The first KDN Web Site was launched
  • March 24, 2002-The first anniversary of KDN was celebrated.
  • August 10, 2002 - KDN 2002 Financial Report was released.
  • June 21, 2002 - KDN was granted a federal tax exemption status by IRS.

2001

  • March 24, 2001 - The founding conference held in the State of Maryland (USA) established KDN, and ratified KDN's Bylaws and Article of incorporation.
  • April 2001 - KDN secured a mailing address
  • May 6, 2001 - The first meeting of KDN members elected the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
  • May 2001 - KDN opened a bank account
  • June 2001 - Membership drive was launched
  • July-August 2001 - KDN objectives & bylaws were reviewed in Ethiopia and a steering committee was set up to follow up the establishment and registration of KDN/Ethiopia.
  • September 2, 2001 - The first KDN financial report was released and distributed to all members.
  • October 21, 2001 - The second KDN Board meeting was conducted through teleconference, resolved issues relating to the organizational structure of KDN and identified the short-term plan of action. It was agreed that KDN's short-term plan should focus on identifying and prioritizing felt needs of the local people and improving education and health services in the home region.
  • November 2001 - The first PR campaign was launched to raise KDN membership and funds.
